This space is quite the contrast to my latest return to my decade-long daily weblogging habit—started in 2000, ended in 2010. The latest being my posting and participation over at Craig Mod’s hi.co, a richly graphic, elegantly designed place, with awesome UI.
Here, it’s just words. A blank, white space, for now erratically being marked with these sans-serif letterforms, struggling for meaning. (I dislike being informed that stuff here generates ‘content,’ whatever that means.)
It’s writing, period. I didn’t detect the explicitly authorial demands that other web-writing spaces like Medium initially purveyed, as a come-on. Just a bit too much pressure there. Here, we shall see.
And if anyone at Svbtle central is reading this, perhaps trawling for feedback: I already like it. Keep it this way, and you will keep me. The writing interface brings me in mind of iA Writer (on my MacBook, and iPad). The complete lack of adornment, focusing. Keep it this way, and I may even gladly pay for this one day—at reasonable terms—should you stumble on the perfect way to monetize this venture, with class and subtlety.
Mahalo.
